Pete and Jena meet when Pete is injured and Jena rescues him. Jena has been programmed by an alien race to kill Pete because the aliens plan to destroy the Earth and they fear Pete and his family will ruin their plans. There are several plot threads and many characters in this series. They all seem to turn up in the book eventually. It can become confusing at times, but not enough to ruin the story. (At least not yet for me.) If you're looking for a complex series, check out this one. – JGH
