What Readers Are Saying

Harlie’s Book Blog - July 2019

I really hope that Ms. Kruspe reads this review.  She will not cringe, cry or go into a depression.  I just want to let her know that I’ve never done the following:
  1.  Read a story with dragon shifters.
  2.  Read a sci-fi story that had me in tears with laughter, a story that was completely plausible, a cast of characters that I fell in love with and did I mention dragons?
Yall this book.  Between Sherri and Ki’s relationship, a ship called Elemi (she is a HOOT), a prince and a duke for friends.  Not to mention the human females that they mated with and the entire plot of aliens taking over earth?  The villains are perfection.  It’s almost like you can see them twirling their mustaches for fun.  And no, I’m not making fun of them.  They were nasty, alien and the end was awesome.  You will cheer when it happens.  But I will say that one aspect does make me a little sad but I won’t spoil it for you.
Sherri is hilarious.  And strong, too.  Her personality is at times snarky but also, just trying to figure out what in the heck is going on with her and her body.  This is where the dragons come into play.  She handled it well but there are plenty of fun moments, too with the dragon.  I grieved for them during the book at one time but I understood why Ms. Kruspe did what she did.  Sherri needed to go into her new role on Earth and grieve Ki at the same time.  It was hard but she got through it.
Ki is an alien but he is all male.  Dumb when it comes to Sherri at times, alpha when it comes to protectiveness and an all around great guy to know.  I understood why he didn’t want to mate with anyone but his dragon has basically told him to buck up and get it over with.  Trust, the dialogue between Ki and the dragon are downright hilarious.  In fact, the dialogue between Sherri and her dragon are fun, too.  You will fall in love with Ki from the very beginning.
The two dragons in the book are fantastic.  Remember this is science fiction, NOT fantasy, so for me, the dragons are more of a person than an animal.  They have their own personalities and aren’t afraid to let Ki and Sherri know it.  I could read a book with just them in it.  Yes, they are that good in the book.
I really loved the plot of the book, too.  Intergalactic war on the Earth; sexy alien men that aren’t afraid to be a bit dumb when it comes to women but will do anything to protect them, even when they don’t need protecting.  This is the third book of the series and I’ve already bought the first two books in the series.  I need those stories.
Do yourself a favor and give this book a chance.  I don’t read anything related to dragons or science fiction but I loved it.  Its a bit spicy in places but appropriately so.  It is a romance.  Another thing, the romance is a slow build.  It might appear that it was fast but really it’s not.  It is sweet, frustrating and the pay off is great.  🐲
